Yesterday was a public holiday in Croatia – Dan državnosti (eng. Statehood Day) - we celebrated the declaration of independence from Yugoslavia. It was in May 19th, 1991 that the Croats voted at the referendum and with 94% decided to have a sovereign and independent state. And one month later, new Croatia was born.
